- Agriculture in the 21st century is a complex, multifaceted and cutting-edge industry ranging from farm production to food processing to retailing, all dealing with the fundamentals of business activity---economics, management, marketing, finance, law, labor, policy and international trade. The Agricultural Business Management major, leading to a Bachelor of Science degree, prepares students for increasing opportunities that exist for graduates to enter managerial positions in ag-related businesses.
The academic program combines core courses in agricultural business and economics with courses in science and technology. Students learn to apply the concepts, principles and terminology of business and economics to real-world issues and opportunities. Although the curriculum arises from an agricultural base, its requirements and applications are broad enough to apply to nonagricultural business as well.

Business Management - Biological Sciences/Business Managment Concentration (BBM)
- Continuing advances in science, especially in biotechnology and health care are creating new career opportunities in biological sciences business management for college graduates who combine training in science with business and economics. The ARE Department offers a program that can tap into these opportunities through the Biological Sciences/ Business Management Concentration within its B.S. Degree program in Agricultural Business Management. This concentration is designed for students with a good background and interest in science who seek alternatives to traditional science careers.
BBM graduates will obtain sound general science training, with emphasis on biological sciences, and a foundation in accounting, business and economics sufficient for job entry or further study at the Master's level. They will also develop communication skills and obtain a historical perspective for evaluating consequences of scientific advances.

Environmental Sciences--Economic Policy Concentration (ESE)
- Development of effective policies and programs for protecting and improving the environment will create new career opportunities for environmental scientists during the coming decades. The complexity of environmental processes and human interactions with the environment demand a multidisciplinary approach to environmental sciences and the analysis of environmental problems and proposed solutions. The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics is offering such a training program through its Environmental Economic Policy Concentration (ESE), which leads to the B.S. Degree in Environmental Sciences. This concentration is designed for students with strong backgrounds in mathematics and sciences who want to be involved in quantitative analysis of government and private environmental policies, programs, and practices.
ESE graduates obtain a sound knowledge of basic natural sciences and skills in economic and statistical analysis that will prepare them for job entry or graduate study in environmental and natural resource economics and policy. They also develop communication and teamwork skills and receive broad training in social sciences and humanities.

Resources--Economics and Management Concentration (NRM)
- The Department of Agricultural Economics offers an Economics and Management Concentration (NRM) of the B.S. Degree in Natural Resources. It is an interdisciplinary program that provides a strong foundation in the natural science---biology, chemistry, ecology, geology, and soil science. The NRM degree is designed to equip students with the skills to apply economics and business principles to natural resources use, preservation, and enhancement. It prepares students for careers as managers and administrators with businesses and governmental agencies responsible for natural resources development and/or waste management.

The minor in Agricultural Business Management is offered to undergraduate majors
in all departments except the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics.
