Research Interest: Vegetable Crop Production and Markets

Specialty:Principal job responsibility is to develop and conduct a research and extension program for the commercial vegetable industry in North Carolina. Specific program activities include: 1) economic evaluation of alternative post harvest handling technologies such as grading and precooling; 2) analysis of marketing strategies, product form, and market timing issues for vegetable growers, greenhouse operators, and specialty crop producers; 3) economic evaluation of farm management practices and techniques such as drip irrigation, plastic mulch, sustainable and organic production systems, and greenhouse vegetable production; 4) enterprise budget estimates for selected commercial vegetables; and 5) economic assessment of market and business opportunities for niche and specialty crops.
